  • Honestly, a t.v show 😂

I have loved makeup for as long as I can remember, but makeup artistry wasn't a thriving industry in my immediate area. I knew I could work locally as a hairstylist, so I signed up for cosmetology school, before graduating from high school. The idea of cutting and coloring hair didn't excite me, so I changed my mind and gave college a very minimal try. It was a no for me. I spent the next year and a half working jobs where I didn't feel valued or fulfilled. Then one day I was watching a t.v show about a hair salon, and one of the girls was a traveling makeup artist who specialized in weddings... Life. Changing. Moment. I knew instantly that was what I wanted to do. I so loved the idea of helping a bride feel beautiful on a day that was created to celebrate love. I quit my job, took a few steps back in life, and went to cosmetology school.

The first class you take in cosmetology school is styling, and once this girl learned how to curl and tease hair, the full vision fell into place. This was 13 years ago and I have been doing hair and makeup for weddings ever since.

  • Hair - Glam waves for sure. If a bride has a good bit of hair that holds curl, or is willing to invest in extensions, this style is truly timeless and breathtaking. For the brides whose hair doesn't hold a curl, or they just don't want to worry about their hair all night, swept back updos with lots of overall volume and texture is It. We are also in our "midi" era and I'm IN LOVE!

Makeup - Glowy, medium-full coverage skin, WHICH I AM HERE FOR. We just came out of our clean girl era. Honestly, minimal foundation doesn't have the longevity that a medium-full coverage does. We're not prepping for a casual Tuesday, this is game day.

Blush blush blush - but not TOO much blush, you know? It's all about the balance.

Soft eyeshadow and soft liner. Also, hints of pink.

  • Our team vibe is a bit different. We have no desire to come in and hustle through as many services as possible, it just doesn't fit our work style. We are artists, we want time to create content worthy makeup applications/hairstyles. Absolute maximum number of makeup applications we would take is 7 per artist, and hairstyling would be 8.

I personally have just changed myself to a bride only artist. This gives me as much time as possible with my brides. It has been the best!

  • The theme of your wedding should play a role in choosing your hair/makeup style. Especially the vibe of your dress. If you are going for a classic, elegant vibe, a braided hairstyle would aesthetically feel off. It would be a good idea to take into consideration the color palette that will be surrounding you in pictures as well, such as the flowers and bridesmaids dresses.

More than anything though, I highly recommend a bride to take they way she looks and her personal preferences into consideration when choosing a look. Most pictures you can find on Pinterest are on professionally edited models. If you are looking through pinterest, try to find pictures with similar hair color, hair density and length, eye color, eye shape. Also highly recommend trying to break down the individual pieces of the picture and ask yourself if it fits your style. Look for things like the eyeliner, brows, the way the hair is pulled back in the front, how much hair is down, what type of curl you gravitate towards. Also, deep dive into your artist's social media posts. Find pieces of what they have already created that you like for you. What is going to make you FEEL your best is customizing a look to fit your unique style. We are all originals.

  • I am pro trial run, I honestly can't think of a single con.

Trials are a great opportunity to connect with your artist. You are sharing your wedding morning, building trust before the big day is so valuable.

If you are picky about certain details (I am that girl) it gives your artist the chance to learn what those details are. Everyone's preferences are SO different.

Hairstyling and makeup is an art, not an exact science. Knowing how your personal skin takes to makeup, or holds a style, is SO helpful to know before game day.

  • I have been an artist for as long as I can remember. As a little girl, I was constantly creating — with pencils, paper, paints and lots of imagination. In high school, I became the designated makeup friend and did all my friends’ makeup for Prom! I went on to college, and later, started a career in journalism, and I forgot about makeup for a while. But I eventually came back to my first love: art. Over the past 16 years I’ve provided hair and makeup for more brides than I can count, and I developed a deep appreciation and love for wedding day beauty and the significance of being part of one of the biggest moments in a woman’s life.

  • In 2024, it’s all about effortless glam – soft waves, wispy lashes, natural glow. I find that brides want to look like themselves, but, you know, the version that makes everyone say, “Who's that goddess?”

  • The most important thing to me is that the bride and her entourage receives the attention and care they deserve on such a special day. I weigh the number of stylists needed against the time allotted for prep — not necessarily the number in the group. But I’m grateful to lead a team of talented and experienced stylists that have the confidence to service any size party, local or destination.

  • Brides should choose a hairstyle and makeup look that resonates with their personal style and complements the wedding theme. Boho wedding? Loose waves and flower crowns! Glam affair? Bring on the red lips and sleek updos! Coordination with the dress, venue and overall vibe is crucial for a cohesive look.

  • Trials are like a dress rehearsal for your hair and face! This session is invaluable for both the bride and artist. Trials allow us to thoroughly discuss hair and makeup inspo and fine-tune the desired look so that everyone is on the same page come the wedding day. The only drawback, per se, is that typically this is an added cost for the bride, but it’s worth every penny to have peace of mind about how you’ll look when all eyes are on you.

  • My passion for wedding hair came when I finished my first bridal party in 2012. I was right out of beauty school, my best friend (Kriston Mathews @kmbeautyandskincare) and I jumped right into being the perfect duo. Her passion in makeup and mine in hair.

  • The most popular wedding hair trend right now is either Hollywood waves or a clean/sleek bun.

  • My max number in styles honestly goes off of the brides time schedule but I normally say my minimum is six styles and my max is fifteen.

  • I honestly love this question. Most brides struggle with making their mom happy when it comes to their hair and makeup for THEIR wedding. I always suggest to my girls do what your mom wants for your bridals and what you want for your wedding day. Lets be honest, bridals are honestly for your mom to hang in her home so why not make her happy and compromise for the day of the wedding and do what you want to for the big day.

  • The pros of wedding hair is making someone feel her absolute best on her wedding day, just like she has always dreamed of.

  • Being in pageants growing up, I always loved having my hair and makeup done. When I got to high school, friends would always ask me to do theirs whenever we had something going on. That’s when I realized I had a passion for making people feel great and wanted to make a career out of it.

  • Brides all have their own unique styles and personalities, but my brides tend to gravitate towards what I’d say is a “soft-glam.” I’m not one to change the way you look with makeup. I like enhancing their natural features to where they still look like themselves, but feel their best.

  • I have a 6 person minimum for makeup, but will always do as many as time allows. I’ve started as early as 4AM before and am fine. I run on the bride’s timeline. If she doesn’t want an early start to the day, I have a few great people I can recommend for help. Or if she wants to find someone on her own, that’s fine as well!

  • You definitely want to take the neckline of your dress into consideration, but also the reality of your hair. If you know your hair doesn’t hold up well, I wouldn’t lean towards a down style for the day of. If you don’t love yourself with makeup on , don’t let someone talk you into doing something super bold or dramatic. Don’t let others make the decision for you. It is YOUR special day. Do what you want.

  • Pros of having a trial is that you’ll have a game plan going into the wedding day. You’ll know how well your hair held up and see how your makeup is photographed. They’re completely optional.

Cons are that they are treated as any other service when it comes to having to pay. I typically recommend scheduling a trial whenever you know you have an event going on, just so that it’s not a total waste.

  • My passion for makeup started at a very young age, doing my first wedding at 16 years old. From what I can remember growing up, I was always surrounded by makeup and was always fascinated by the thought of being able to be so creative on myself. I created my instagram in 2018 for fun not knowing it would end up being my full time career 6 years later. I realized my passion for bridal makeup when my brides started to become more than clients. You're pretty much working with me for a whole year before your big day, so we get pretty close. My favorite part... It's the look on the bride's face when they see the final makeup look. Tears usually start flowing from both me and bride lol. THAT is what makes all the long days soo worth it for me. Its such a special feeling I don't think I can describe.

  • Trends in wedding makeup/hair I find that are most popular in todays day and age is the very timeless hair styles. Something clean and classy. For makeup, the natural glam is in, nothing to bold and dark but still enough definition in the eyes and face. I think this year the more glam brides have been coming back. For a while everyone wanted that no makeup/makeup look... little to no foundation. While it is still beautiful I slowly get less brides asking for it. If I had choose... natural glam all the way!

  • The maximum number of individuals I am able to do is 10 before needing to bring along an assistant or for you to hire an extra artist. As well as, a minimum requirement of 6! Depending on time restraints this number may change.

  • DO YOUR OWN THING! that's been my biggest advice to my brides. Stop going on social media trying to put this image in your head of what a bride should look like. Don't try to step out of your comfort zone for your wedding, pictures will be taken all day/night so making sure you feel comfortable and confident is very important. For example, my hair is my security blank and I like it framing my face so last thing ill be doing on my wedding day is a slick back bun just because it looks amazing on every bride on titkok.

  • I see no cons in trials before the big day. Number one thing is.. go in with zero expectations (to an extent). You are uniquely you, no one on Pinterest will look exactly like you. So it takes a load of weight off your stylist/artist back when you realize we can't make you look EXACTLY like the model with tons of filters in the photo. Bring some pics from the artist page that you want to use! I love when clients show me my own work as their Inspo pic! Another reason I love when brides come for trials, we finally get to meet each other after months of talking over the phone. Lastly, Brides are usually a little nervous for hair and makeup so trials are an amazing way to get those nerves out and get an idea of your look for the big day.
