The most memorable and unique moments I've captured on wedding days are always those unplanned moments you share with your guests. Up until this point in the day, I've spent time with you and your closest crew; but the reception is when those wildcard guests let loose and really start working you out of your shells. To date, my favorite receptions are always those where the guests bust out a soul train, conga line, or throw the bride and groom on chairs and lift them through the crowd.

Being based in New Orleans, some of my favorite photos come from second lines. They’re such a uniquely New Orleans tradition and it’s so cool to see out of state couples or guests experience it for the first time. There’s always so much joy, especially the ones that we do in the French Quarter. Locals or passerbys stopping to watch or join in - it feels like the city stops for a brief moment to celebrate the couple. Some of my favorite photos in my portfolio are from second lines.

I love being a wedding photographer because legacy is important to me. Some of my earliest memories of wedding photos involve looking through my parents’ wedding photos when I was younger. I often think about getting to show my future children our wedding album. Getting to go back in time to relive and share the love and joy that we felt on the best day of our lives. It’s not lost on me the your wedding day is the only time you will have that specific group of people together in one place. I take that very seriously and it’s very special to me that I get to document it.

Our photo style is a mix of candid moments and editorial portraits of the couple. We favor natural looking photos and minimalism in our composition. Our videos are very unique to the couple, but emphasize cinematic camera movements, excellent color grading, and tasteful song choices.

Our favorite wedding memories are the ones where the couple doesn't downplay the wedding experience. "Go hard or go home" is our mindset with everything. We believe in making everything the best it can be. Some of our favorite memories shooting weddings are ambitious couples right here in Louisiana, but also the luxury weddings & elopements we've been lucky enough to shoot in Italy, Colombia, California, and beyond. We favor multi-day experiences where the guests are in for a good time!

Liz (one of our Lead Shooters) shot the wedding of Anna-Corrine & Jordan. This couple specifically chose videography because the bride, AC, was so excited to share some moments that had only recently become possible. Her father's health was rocky and she was beyond grateful that he would be able to be there and walk her down the aisle that day. For the ‘father/daughter’ first look, the photographer (SarahBeth), Liz’s assistant, and Liz literally could not keep the tears in. It was so sweet and we were ALL so happy to be there documenting the real emotion of how amazing it was for him to be there seeing her in her beautiful wedding dress. It’s moments like this that remind each of us at Genuine Collective Films how important our job is. People are investing in the preservation of the most precious moments. Olivia (one of our Lead Shooters) shot the wedding of Kristine & Dean. Olivia remembers right before waking down the aisle, Kristine breast fed her son in her wedding dress. All of us in the wedding industry understand the importance of making sure the bride is cared for on the big day. Some even argue that the day is hers, but the thing with being a mother is even when you are a bride, you never are “not” a mother. And that is just beautiful. Lastly, I guess I'd like to just end with how much I love what I do. I get to work with some incredible vendors to put on an event that is remembered for a lifetime. It's my job to make sure that the memory of that lives on past that and into their kids lifetimes, and so on. I don't take my job lightly at all and I couldn't be any more grateful for all the opportunities I've had to capture some beautiful moments in the most breath-taking places around the world.
